Successful Underwater CleanUp : Bidong 2010

It is important that all level of society do their bit to preserve the marine environment. People are starting to realise it's impact and consequences with a good number of turn up. A total of 60 volunteer divers took part in this year International CleanUp in Pulau Bidong organised by SR Marine Services S/B. We are indeed grateful with volunteer divers from Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Batu Pahat had answered our calls to take the plunge.  A movement is taking shape with the assistance from sponsors such as UZMA Group, GRB Digital Solution, Terengganu Tourism, Diver Alert Newtwork (DAN), Sutra Beach Resort and Sea Monkey Dive Centre have made it possible. Thus, collaborating with Project AWARE, WWF, PEWANIS, PADI, Marine Park & local primary school have demonstrated their commitment in supporting th recent project. Remarkably, the spirit of 1 Malaysia truly signifies as there are no barriers onto social responsibilities.

Time is not on our side when it comes to the battle against ocean pollution and its affect on marine life. Despite heavy rain on the 1st day, we make it to Bidong island 3 hours later than planned. Bad weather has cause some delay but it did not deterred the enthusiasm of the divers in removing fishing nets, line, plastic junk, glass bottles and clothing. One of our team pick up a piece of under garment which has found its way to Bidong Island. What a discovery ! 

It is inevitable that increasing of trash is triggering an alarming rate. Thus, such project is a platform for all to contribute saving the heritage of our chidlren.

The dive sites in Bidong consist of fringing reef & submerged reef. At present there are no development in the island except for a jetty. Most of the dive sites are exposed to Tidal current which may be challenging for novice diver.

SR Marine Services was established in 2007 driven in the passion as Dive Ambassadors for the marine environment. We extend our resources to assist in sustaining the marine environment. We provide a platform for corporate, entrepreneurs, local and international authorities and the communities to have an avenue to extend their Social Responsibilities to the environment. Our initiatives are partly working with local communities to improve livelihoods and protect the environment.
